Sunderland face Lincoln City tonight at the LNER Stadium as they go head to head in the first leg of the League One playoffs semi-final.​

This will be the 14th meeting between the two sides, with the first coming in 1958, in which Lincoln came out 3-1 winners.
The two teams have already played each other on three occasions this campaign, with The Black Cats going unbeaten in all three.
The last time they met in a cup competition was in the EFL Trophy Final earlier this season, with Sunderland winning on penalties.
Lee Johnson’s side will be hoping to emulate their result from the last time they went to Lincoln, coming away with a 4-0 win.

Sunderland Form​

The Black Cats ended the season with a 1-1 draw against Northampton Town, with Carl Winchester scoring in the final few minutes to snatch a point.
They have won just one from their last six matches, picking up six points from a possible 18. They now find themselves 16th in the form table.
The Black Cats have been inconsistent on the road recently, however, they did beat Plymouth 3-1 in their last away game.

Lincoln City Form​

It wasn’t exactly an exciting end to the season for Lincoln as they drew 0-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon.
The Imps have won two of their last six games, accumulating eight points from 18. That means they currently sit fourteenth in the form table.
They’ve struggled at home recently, winning just one of their last six home games, whilst losing three of them.
