Everyone likes someone who’s sympathetic, so someone would show you sympathy

Surely the premise here is that if everyone liked the same things, then they wouldn't be bored?
But the argument hellfire is making is that everyone would be happy if we all liked the same thing. But that's not the same thing.
Using the football analogy again if everyone supported Boro that would definitely be boring wouldn't it?
So I don't think there's anything wrong with the saying.

That’s a good point. I’d not considered that, although I’d not really put too much thought into the topic as I had posted it in the spur-of-the-moment.
Next question then...
Can you be happy if you’re permanently bored?
Based on the fact that ‘life would be boring if we all liked the same things’ and not ‘life would occasionally be boring if we liked the same things’.

folk pretty much all want the same things; Peace, shelter, family, security, food, clothes, art and work - in all of its variety & connotations.
