The 4th of the cycling monuments is under way and it makes a change to say MvDP is not the favourite. A very tough race chocka with punchy hills and ramps.

Many of the riders are in cold weather gear - it must be freezing.

5 degrees, but was colder earlier. Looks like VdP is out of it already, got caught behind a crash with two thirds of the peloton and are now a minute behind and losing time. Tom had a mechanical at the same time as the crash and is now in the VdP group.

Israel PT have been riding for him at the front, so they obviously have high hopes. It'll take something special to beat Pog today.

Pidcock is trying his best to get back on. Van der Poel has an even bigger test with Vlasov and Yates

All together now. Tom spent a lot more energy than VdP getting across by going off on his own then in a small group. Vdp sat in the wheels and gambled it would come back.
