MIDDLESBROUGH libraries are gearing up for the return of public computers as the latest phase of lockdown easing approaches.
The popular service has been on hold, with services restricted to Click & Collect under Covid-19 restrictions.
But from Monday (May 17), library users will be able to get online once more at a number of key hubs, with a 45-minute session bookable by telephone, email or in person. Bookings can be made from Monday, May 17.
The move follows last month's return of book browsing, with the phased re-introduction of socially distanced public computers starting on next week at the following Community Hubs and Libraries:
Councillor Mieka Smiles, Middlesbrough Council's Executive member for Communities and Education, said: "This is fantastic news, and something I know library users have been looking forward to for many months.
"Not all of us have internet access or high speed broadband, but it's so important for education, job hunting and just keeping connected.
"This is yet another sign that there's light at the end of the tunnel and that life is starting to return to normal."
