Liam Roberts Barnsley - Boro

Looks a very good keeper , but is out of contract with us at the end of this season .
Have we got an option to extend ? Or have we dropped another blob .
Barnsley commentator raving about him .
Josh Sheehan Bolton CM is very very good , age 28 , he should be on our list .

Are you anticipating us dropping into league one?
With Glover and Dieng in goal , possibly , yes . Roberts is as good as both , Brynn and Hemings also are ours and should get a chance instead of them . Are you blind Quicksilvera? Our keepers let goals in every game , they are both average . Take your Boro blinkers off and watch as a neutral , they are both poor .

Chill out SR, Roberts is a poorer goalkeeper than both Dieng and Glover. We concede a lot of goals because we are shaky all over the pitch and especially at the back, we lack confidence at the moment but we know what we are capable of.

Maybe we should look at some centre backs from
Shrewsbury and Cheltenham to shore up the defence?

I'd say every bit as good as the likes of Glover and Jones (not that we know)

We definitely didn't upgrade our No2 status. Although he maybe wanted first team football. You have to commend him for that.

He's been highly regarded at his last 2 club's (including Barnsley). So he's clearly decent.

Bit harsh to mention Jones when he's never played a game - at any level I think - for us

He wasn't convincing in his few appearances for us last year. Glover has had some good performances and more than adequate as a number 2.

Don't blame him for choosing to move on for his career.

Not a patch on Dieng, and I don't think he was good enough to be our number one.

Wouldn't have had any issue with him remaining our number two, but playing was understandably more important for him.

You may want players from Shrewsbury and Cheltenham , I don't.
If you look at my post on the other thread on players for next season I suggest
Ben Johnson , Michal Helik , Ladislav Krejci , Lloyd Kelly, Max Lowe .
--------Ola Aina----Alan Browne --Sam Field
Danny Armstrong ---Callum O'hare ---Sorba Thomas
-----Theo Bair , Matheus Saldanha , Mojmir Chytil
All experienced players who would improve our 1st eleven .
I suggested giving our 3 owned keepers a chance , as I don't rate Dieng or Glover , football is a game of opinions , that mine.

Though he’s currently our number 1….

EDIT: just noticed Dieng played on Saturday. I was watching Migration at the cinema.

Dieng is probably the best keeper we have had since Randolph.

Any critique of our keepers is probably harsh considering the huge shift in the way we play. Previous Boro keeepers never had to sit behind all this passing around at the back with inevitable mistakes leading to chance after chance. I’m pretty sure Lumly and betinelli would have fared poorly in similar situations. And I don’t think our defenders are bad either, if they only had to defend then they wouldn’t make so many mistakes

There has been some bad takes on this board, but this is up there.

Roberts was dreadful, conceded some very sloppy goals, can't play out from the back and had to launch it. He was very good at claiming crosses, which is why he is good at league one and two level as games at that level feature more of that type of play.

I might be forgetting, but I can't think of a mistake Dieng has made which has led to a goal, certainly not a shot he should have saved.

(I agree regarding Sol and Hemmings deserving a chance over Glover though, which they probably will next season)
