Lewis O'Brien - Out for 2 to 3 months

What has O`Brien done?
It is a fracture of the tibia as well as a little bit of ankle damage. Unfortunate really. Innocuous...his foot got stuck in the turf and took a bit of a kick at the same time. Disappointment….but football`s football and Lewis will make the best of the situation….and we`l have to move on quick as well.

Will Lewis rehab at Boro or Forest?
He`s a Forest player obviously so that will need working out.

Has Carrick spoke to Lewis O`Brien?
Yes, I`ve spoken to him. He`s disappointed. Its a blow. No footballer wants to be injured for any time, but he`s [as I said] a fantastic character. He`l do everything he can to get back soon.

Really really gutted for him.

After being well and truly shafted by Notts Forest, he basically had little choice but to go and play in the MLS for the rest of the season - which i highly doubt he'll have been too fussed on.

Finally gets a move to a good club where he's playing regularly (and well) - then this happens.

Hope he has a speedy revovery - and I also hope we sign him on a permanent in the summer.

He's out if contract at the end of the season I believe.

He's shown enough already to think that we would be interested in getting him signed. Maybe that's an incentive to keep him around the club and look after him while he's injured?

Yea true.

To be fair, for me anyway....he had very little to prove. I think everyone knew we were getting a top champ player after seeing him at Huddersfield the season before last.
 
Didnt he only sign for Forest in the summer of their promotion, 2022? so just over a year ago? I would be surprised if he only got a 2 year contract?

You are right. I mis-read. I read "his current contract expires in May2024". What I failed to realise was that this statement was about his loan contract with Boro :ROFLMAO:

His contract with Forest is until Summer 2026. :oops:

Fractured tibia requiring surgery, gonna be out for some time, that's a nasty one....could be longer than 3 months ☹️
