Unfortunately as they have until (I think) January 25th 2025 to call it I think they'll keep going hoping 'something turns up' - or the 'road runs out'GE required right now

It won't be January. They won't do a winter election as the core demographic of their voters (pensioners) are less likely to turn out.Sounds like there are a couple of options
May - energy prices will come down, there will have been fewer boats (winter) inflation will be lower and avoid another wipeout at the local elections.
More likely - Jan 25 and they just linger for as long as they can
I suspect that by tomorrow the dog will have eaten their homeworkSunak's lie about his phone and snapchats - possible perversion of the course of justice.
Simon Case going on the sick before he is due to give evidence at the covid inquiry.
Officials reported by The Times to have deliberately mis-managed HS2 to line pockets.
Tory donors linked to JCB suspected of dodging £500 million in taxes.
And that's just today.
The UK is third rate banana monarchy where blatant, systemic corruption is now the norm.
It will not recover from the catastrophe of the last thirteen years.
I wouldn't rule anything out as far as the Tories are concerned, but if they change leader again that is very desperate last throw of the dice. The optics would be terrible 12 months out from a GE (after already having had 2 new PMs that no-one voted for).Never underestimate the Tories' will to hold on to power. I think they'll remove Sunak for Penny Morduant and hope a nice-looking white lady is enough to bring back all those people who want to vote Tory really. The only thing stopping them is the fact that the leading Tory contenders won't want to risk blowing their chance by getting wiped out at a GE and will be keeping their powder dry for a bid post- (inevitable) defeat. However, if the polls are still flatlining come the Spring then the right-wing press will start to get desperate and the momentum will build again for the old 'Reports are suggesting Sir Graham Brady, Chairman of the 1922 Committee, has received the required amount of letters...etc'.
Energy prices coming down any meaningful amount will take a miracle. It's usually pretty well forecasted 1 year in advance. A very mild winter might reduce it a little and a very harsh one and geopolitical instability might make it rise a lot bit for the most part prices are forecast to be high until the end of the decade which may mean a slow taper eg £100 only so drop each yearSounds like there are a couple of options

And the bungs. And lobbying money. Lot of money to be made, sadly gets in the way of their MP duties.......They won't be an election or vote of no confidence as the tory mps will want another years wages and expenses
