Let's be honest here

2nd place was always going to be tough, even more so when you look at Sheff Utd's run-in.

Very disappointing today make no bones about it and it hurts it really does, but this is a boro team that were sat 21st in the division, so to be even in with a sniff of 2nd is fantastic!!!

This is the championship and anyone can beat anyone, so bring on Burnley and if I was Carrick my team talk would be to get them all to watch this today and put it right!!!

Plus anyone remember the promotion year 1997-98

A - forest 0-4
A - QPR 0-5

Those were shock results to the system but Im still more than confident we have more than enough to go up via the plays offs, so UTFB
Paddy McNair is the new Andy Dibble?

Being completely honest, there's something about this team that worries me. Don't get me wrong, we've been immense for 95% of Carrick's reign, but every now and then we have these absolute stinkers and we look soft as shiyte. Shipping 4 goals against a team like Huddersfield is shocking.

It's the same tactics used against us each time that we look pretty clueless against. I worry about us going into the play offs and teams knowing exactly how to nullify us.

To be honest, if we had won today it would not have made any difference as Sheffield won their 8th 1.0 of the season. They would still been 3 points in front with a game in hand. We needed Norwich to win. The worrying thing for us is that other playoff teams will look at us today and realise we are defensively poor if they can keep it tight. Even fourth bottom Cardiff have conceded less goals than us. Fry must be first choice when fit as he and Smith are our only proper defenders.

I thought they'd drop points against watford, sunderland and norwich ... they won all three sadly

Don’t get down hearted we have shown quality over the past 6 weeks. We will get into the playoffs and we stand a better chance than anyone. Ps…just loving your name photo…the little fella giving it.

Wonder if we'll get 7k at blackburn if they finish 6th?

They wont want a large away following will they. I think we only gave villa 2k

No one from outside the top 6 seem to be mounting a late challenge at the minute, Millwall are hitting a sticky patch, I think it could be them who drop out if anyone.

Am I right in thinking it's top 3 and 4 who get the away legs first in the play offs, don't think I'd fancy going to a packed out den first up mind especially if they score first.

Aye 3rd and 4th play their home game second leg

We have goals in us so I’d fancy us doing any team at home second leg even if we lose the first, even 4-1 down today we had a chance of getting something which makes the utter mindfcuk of that 15 minute spell more annoying, where was the leadership to steady things at that point, Lenihan was culpable and howson did his usual silent shrug, the team still lacks leaders

Wembley though… hmmm

In reality we've all but secured a play off spots with 7 games left, which is an incredible achievement given where we were. But it doesn't stop the disappointment.

I think we will struggle in the playoffs.
Its nice when we pump teams, but when we lack ideas and teams come onto us, boy we struggle.
West Brom, Sunderland, Burnley and today, just pedestrian.
Then I think of Sheff Utd away, Norwich away and Watford at home.
Like 2 different teams.

Lets be grateful Stoke have left themselves too much to do

We look very shaky at the back sometimes. We’ve just been out scoring teams, but when we play a team who gets at us we struggle. Stoke did it and were very unlucky not to beat us.

It's the championship, always been mental, it was a really bad day, I don't think the international break hasn't helped us, they were so poor the first half our players completely switched off, probably good to have this happen now than the first leg of a playoff game.
