The Boro experiment was really well done, but 1,000 fans to every home game isn't going to save football.

The richer clubs just need to accept they have a responsibility and save the poorer clubs. And if it's not done some clubs will go bust. It's very sad but it is what it is.

but 500 fans at smaller clubs WILL save them....... for Boro we need to be allowed 15K+ in the ground for it to have a positive impact on income.

Thats taken as a given.
The "experiment" was not to promote 1000 fans at each game - but whether fans could be managed safely as a point towards returning more fans to football.

Boro went BUST in 1986 due to smaller gates and massive debts!!! The cost of running a club is also now significantly higher (as is the income from TV)

Time clubs cut their cloth more accurately, their spending doesn't need to be anywhere near where it is.
