30 minutes after this the pipe will have been:
"XO, Navigator, Officer Of The Watch, Quartermaster, Bo'suns mate, .... Captains Cabin"
Oh how I would loved to have been ear-wigging outside the old man's cabin to hear that series of explanations...the Captain may not necessarily have had the ship at the time. He may have had junior officers practising.

A steering gear breakdown can't be ruled out.
I haven't heard anything off mates who are out there as yet but i will in time.

All the minehunters are made from wood, GRP (glass reinforced plastic) and non magnetic metals to reduce the magnetic signature.

Ah, right, makes sense I suppose.
Easy repair with a bit of matting, resin and catty then, I could soon sort that. Bodged a few Fords up that way over the years
