Leeds United v Leicester City

Are Leicester bottling it?

They've just blown two matches in a row that they absolutely should have won on chances created, it's not like the performances haven't been there.

They were the better team against us and against Leeds, they just left their shooting boots at home.

I think they'll still go up comfortably.

You can consider the Leeds player chesting the ball as deliberate play, in which case he's not offside,
That is irrelevant in this situation - the Leicester player was not offside at any time. He could only have been offside if the Leicester player had touched it after it hit the bar.

If for example it deflected straight back to the Leicester player off the crossbar he would have been onside.

"gaining an advantage by playing the ball or interfering with an opponent when it has:
  • rebounded or been deflected off the goalpost, crossbar or an opponent "

That's still offside.
The only way he wasn't offside is if the Leeds player deliberately played the ball, which I'd say he did.

That only applies when he is in an offside position when the ball is played forward by his own team.

In this case the Leicester player was onside when the ball was played forward and it struck the crossbar.

Therefore it doesn’t matter if the Leeds player accidentally or deliberately played the ball after it came back off the crossbar.

If it had bounced straight to the Leicester player off the crossbar he would have been onside so a Leeds player touching it can’t make him offside.

I wasn't exactly focused on the game but the Leicester player was onside when the ball was headed against the bar?

What does whether the Leeds player deliberately played the ball or not after the ball game off the bar have to do with the price of fish?

I clearly wasn't focused either, I thought he was offside from the header to begin with.

That'll teach me not to watch the replay.

Arguing cross purposes with Since1973, sorry.

You were right with what you were saying but the player needs to be offside to start with - Then what the opposition player does or doesn’t do may come into it.
