Leaving Bootham Crescent - Video

My friend Jason Wood is spearheading a project to remember Bootham Crescent, both in collecting memories and also hopefully creating/retaining physical reminders of the old ground. Here is a video - the 5th in the series - the follow up includes Ayresome Park also.

Very sad day Rob, even the fans didn’t get chance to say goodbye.

mine of the last real housing estate football grounds.

the fan base will drop now as it’s a pain in the backside to get to monks cross, especially in Saturday traffic.

no pub crawl and wander to the ground anymore which was the attraction at York

Sad they didn't get a last day at BC.
Used to be an occasional visitor during my student days.

I wouldn't be surprised if some enterprising publican sets up a bus between a pub and the new ground.

This project is at least trying to ensure there is a legacy in terms of fan memories and physical things staying at Bootham Crescent marking the spot and marking the fact it was so important to many people over a long period. It is a project that will produce so much community involvement that might well help the move to the new out of town ground.

Some did get a last day. They have been playing at Bootham Crescent since the NL(N) resumed and they were in Tier 2 which meant that some spectators could be allowed in until just before Christmas.

I know it's not quite the same, but how long did 'buses from pubs last after we moved to the Riverside?

I think the location of the new ground is dreadful.

A quarter of a century on and fans are still doing this for Riverside games. Great service to the club some of them have provided.

Only ever made it to BC once, a Hartlepool game on a summer evening. Lovely little ground.

Love Bootham C and always tried to get to a game there when I come back ( saw Gibson play for York there and ,I think , Bradley Fewster )
My brother has lived in York for a good while and he's a season ticket holder.
Just won't be the same at the new community stadium.

It is ironic that over recent years there have been several "almost" last games. I remember watching a play off defeat there and everyone was treating it as one of the final games.. But the same thing happened the next season and then the next... and so on..
I have massive sympathy for Brentford because they will have had so much planned for their last 3 months at Griffin Park.
