Last game for Akpom’s record on Monday

Play-off games don’t count so Coventry on Monday is Akpom’s last chance to set a record to chase next season (and in many seasons to come). Will we see his like again?

Facing off against his main rival too.

I hope he can do it, though he'll need 2 goals, and they don't concede many.

Stoke turned them over not too long ago during their hot streak. They're certainly beatable and will be under more pressure than us to "go for it" so hopefully will leave some gaps at the back for us to exploit.

I was about to say the same thing. I was surprised that he played for the entire game yesterday.

What benefit would two more weeks without football do him?

He already had a week off before playing against Rotherham.

The only reason not to play him is the risk of him getting injured, but that's got to outweigh the risk of the team's rhythm getting disrupted even more.

I was wincing a few times watching the game yesterday and seeing him getting clattered. It is the possibility of injury that worries me. With Forss and Ramsey both injured, we don't want Chuba getting injured too. I'd have taken him off in the second half and brought Muniz on instead. We need him fit for the play-offs, so I wouldn't risk him on Monday in a game that doesn't really mean anything.

I agree but in any game of football there is always a possibility of injury, dont over think it!

We could rest him and he could get injured in the warm up, first tackle of the Playoffs etc.

What will be will be, play your best team, keep the sharpness and get ready to fight for verything in the play offs and potential final, no player will want to rest at this moment they will want to play every minute to be as sharp as possible and we should be no different IMO.

But either way I trust the management team to do whats right for the squad!

They've lost less games than us and have conceded 10 fewer goals. I believe they've kept 20 clean sheets?

Be a tough game, and a tough play-off opponent if it's to be them.

What is the record? Or is just the 30 league goal milestone? I know Peacock and Clough both scored over 30.

Attempting to become the first player in the Riverside era to score 30 league goals, and the first to do so since 1962-63 (Alan Peacock with 31).

I think he'll probably miss out now, resting him against Luton probably prevented it, though I hope he still manages to do it.

If not, he could still try and reach 30+ goals in all competitions via the the play-offs and overtake Ravanelli's 31.

There's probably more chance of getting injured when you are trying not to get injured. You either have to play the game like it is a normal game or don't play at all. I think we've been treating these last few games like pre-season which is how we should be viewing it. It's normally important to play them to get match fitness and you want the last game of pre-season to be a dress rehearsal for the 1st game which is why I would like to see a strong team this weekend, at least for 60 mins, and put in a bit of a performance.

It'll be a tougher game for them. We'll finish above them, have more wins than them and scored far more goals. We'll also have the advantage of playing the second leg at home if we play them in the play offs.
I honestly wouldn't want to be in Coventry's position, having to play away at easily one of the best home teams in the division and get a result to qualify for the play offs.
