Laptop Advice

Quick question - which would be the better laptop - Acer or Lenovo? Both pretty identical specs and price. I've had two Acers over the past 15? Years both still work......daughters HP was about 18 month old and suffered hard drive failure so not impressed and bit reluctant to get one of these.

Lenovo any good?

Both intel i5 Gen 10 processors, 256SSD drive, integrated intel graphics. Like I said specs are pretty much identical.......just don't know much about Lenovo

Lenovo bought IBM's PC manufacturing business.

That said they are decent laptops, used extensively in business. Acer are better than they used to be.
"Acer are better than they used to be". Interesting, like I said I've had two, both still work (albeit a little slower....) and the only problem I have had with either is one of the USB ports doesn't work.

But looks like both as much of a muchness. One silver, one black.....I'll toss a coin :)

When Acer first appeared on the market they were absolutely at the cheap end of the market and we had a few where I worked, the model we bought had a specific problem the HDDs were secured with a bit of double sided tape, inevitably they came loose and the problem was compounded by them being SATA drives which simply slide on (and off) their connectors. We had just about every single one came back to us with the disk having come adrift of the connectors. They were also a pig to take apart with flimsy construction that often meant that plastic tabs broke off.

Recently we had to hurriedly buy some laptops pre lockdown one and we ended up buying a couple of Acers. I had a sceptical look at them when they came in and I must admit they seem decent enough.

Of those two - Lenovo - though if I could get an ASUS at the same spec/price I'd have that I've had three (two for work) and they have all performed very well and given sterling service. I've been given a Microsoft Surface Pro now and I have to admit that with a dock and monitors it is as good as the Laptops I've had for business use.

Lenovo has the better support site if you need downloads, and the forums tend to be a bit busier than Acer, so you should be able to get help quicker. If the Lenovo is black, be prepared to be constantly polishing the sodding thing as it shows dust like a $E%&^^%$%$
