Saw him on FB backing on about how he was going to get an app released to report crime instantly instead of ringing 101. Nice idea on paper, but getting an app that links to police systems wont be cheap or quick and reporting the crime is just one element of it - the other part is responding to those crimes. If Cleveland police didn't have massive budget cuts then maybe they would be in a better position to respond to crime, but his response to every question like this is "but in durham..." or "because of labour...", no acceptance at all of reduction in staff having any impact at all lol.

The comments on the gazette website towards Williams were all negative. I asked one poster who the new guy is for Stockton south and why hadnt i heard a peep from him. Told me he was doing a fantastic job, i asked what had Mr Vickers done like, got no reply. Must be writing me a detailed report

Any Labour candidate is going to receive negative comments - seems to be sadly the general reflection of views on Teesside at the moment certainly from those jumping on social media.
 
I don’t think the optics of this are particularly great. Just earlier this week he was dedicated to becoming PCC and at the drop of a hat he’s pulled out and he’s on a shortlist of one to become Hartlepool MP.

I’m sure he would do a very good job for Hartlepool as he did for our constituency, but I think it’ll be difficult for him and his opponents will paint him as opportunistic.

Agree with all of that Pog. In fact his opponents have already commenced the pile-on.

I think Labour may have shot themselves in the foot for this one..

Dr Paul seems like a nice fella, but he was anti brexit and quite open about how he would work against the result of the referendum. I don’t think Labour have clicked on yet how much that has hurt them. MPs working against their own leader, members, manifesto and voters.. it doesn’t get much worse than that. So bad that it make the conservatives look like the lesser of two evils.

Nobody wants to admit it or apologise.. instead just try and brush everything under the carpet, keep calling Labour voters antisemites and try and construct a new Labour re-run out of the raggy doll rejection bin of the Conservative party.701CF5CD-A622-4A10-8BC0-EB59C39FC1CA.jpeg

I’m convinced the gazette comments has several people like what smoggierainbow was doing here operating on it. There are just certain characters that come out in support of every conservative story and against every Labour story with such fervour & bile and if you challenge anything the whole squad reply.

You look at the Facebook gazette comments and younger a far more balanced view from all sides

and that’s before we mention the fact he wanted to overturn Brexit (which cost him his seat in Stockton South), and he’s now standing in a seat that voted 70% to leave the EU.
