I'm guessing the reports that he was planning to use Alexander-Arnold in midfield in these friendlies was a good indicator that he wasn't wanting to stick with Henderson as a starting midfielder going forward.
But then Henderson also went off injured on Sunday, so that could just be the reason.

Henderson is there for continuity, experience, and closing t*t games out. far too much made of his involvement with England, it's not like he's been a liability when he has played either.
