My 6 year old kindle has expired. As its early prime day I was going to take advantage and get a new one. Fancied the oasis but the paperwhite signature is cheaper. Any recommendations?

I bought my Mrs the paperwhite last Xmas and she absolutely loves it, especially on holiday as she likes to read when laid by the pool.

I have an old Kindle, just had a look at upgrading but prices seem crazy for something that needs very little. The one I have is about 10 years old and when you are reading books it does the job perfectly. The only thing I would want is a light. Why are prices still so high?

The thing I like most about mine compared to my wife's newer one (still about 5 years old and has a light) is that mine has physical buttons for changing page. I prefer that to touchscreen buttons and it looks like the Oasis has them. That would probably be a dealbreaker for me.

My dad has a Kobo for some reason I cannot figure the buggger keeps resetting it. I have a load of ePub books so a couple of questions

1. Can I side load Ebooks onto a Kindle using an app like Calibre to convert and load them?
2. Is the Kindle easy to use for an OAP?

Whatever you go for you can usually get a trade in of your old device. I got £20 off when upgrading a couple of years ago. Worth a try.

Yes and Yes.

At least, you definitely could with my wife's 5 year old one. Presume that hasn't changed

My old kindle was ancient and I got an email from Amazon giving me notice that they will be no longer supporting that particular model. I took the plunge and bought a paperwhite and really like it. Took a little bit of getting used to and as someone mentioned I would prefer physical buttons on the side rather than the touch screen. Found it a bit if a faff navigating back to the library page at first but away with it now. Love the backlight.
