Kieran Scott

5 wins in 22 is relegation form. People are rightly worried and concerned.
It’s 7 wins and 5 draws from 22. That is not great but within that there is context. This is just my opinion obviously, but once we’d made the playoffs and Sheffield United had sealed second place we eased off. The final 4 league games were a sort of weird hinterland, where he was trying to protect Akpom from injury and then get us up and ready for the playoffs.

With the benefit of hindsight, maybe we’d have been better going hell for leather in those 4 games.

We include two playoff games in that 22, well we only played those games because of Carrick’s impact. We say ‘oh you’ve lost your last 4 games’ or whatever but two of them only came about because of a miraculous upturn in form and fortune, which is now perversely almost used against him. And for the first half at Coventry, in the first leg, we played them off the park. We hit the bar and Akpom missed a sitter of a header at the start of the second. Those are the margins at play here.

That’s why, for me, it’s not really *that* fair to bring last season into it. There have been so many changes in personnel. There are actually enough issues from this season’s games alone to be getting on with that you don’t even really need to hark back to something that happened almost four months ago.

It’s just my opinion, obvs.

I’d love to be in your head. Wish I could see that everything is fine. We are bottom of the league with 1 point leaking goal after goal.

It’s a poor start. No one wants Carrick sacked. No one. We want and hope he turns it around. I’m disappointed at the state of the squad he has to work with. It’s too heavy in some areas with a lack of quality and weak in some areas with a severe lack of depth. It just looks and feels poor. Carrick I believe can get the best out of people so I’m hoping these next couple of weeks with the lads ( especially some of the new boys) they start to buy into it and we get a good result against Blackburn.
There have been plenty on here calling for Carricks head.

Well I haven’t seen one post calling for his head right now personally tbh.

A few have talked about results not improving then maybe, but not many. The thread on replacing him at some point is not helpful though. If you say some people want him sacked now well I’m shocked, I’d say they are ludicrous and he must be allowed to see his contract out as a minimum for me. Scott should be on shakier ground for me.

To be fair it was our worst start to a season since the 80s so can’t blame fans for getting worked up.

Thankfully Carrick and co didn’t 👍🏻
Quoted for truth. It was also on the back of a pretty bad run at the end of last season when everything just seemed to go flat. Put that together with losing so many players and seeing them be replaced with players who didn't even look close to the same level and you can't blame fans for being worried.

As ever, some went way over the top but it was perfectly legitimate to be worried and unsure about how it was going to improve.

I think it's also fair to take Scott at his word when he said, in January, that his job starts now. He is trying to do something really difficult which is to completely re-engineer the club from top to bottom. It is a transitional process and there's going to be no lack of bumps along the way but so far, despite a really concerning couple of months, it's looking as though we're going in the right direction.

Still not convinced by Scott, I still think if we’re serious about promotion we need more in January. Great form and we look so much better than two months ago. I think everyone is happy in our turn off fortunes and happy to see us climb the table. People have a right to have an opinion on here with getting belittled for it. People are still concerned with the financial situation the clubs in and the one top flight season in 14 years. Everyone wants the club to succeed and do well.
