Kieran Scott appreciation thread

In terms of player value, this must be one of the most valuable squads we have assembled in a decade or more.

In fact, even going back to Hasselbaink, Viduka, Mendieta etc… obviously they were all quality players, but probably not worth a great deal

I used to think we needed a season in the Prem to financially secure the future of the club but I think Scott has done it really.

I think we'll go up automatically but if not, I think Lath, Hackney and VDB will be in the premier league next season which you'd hope would generate £70 million incoming and just those 3 player sales make things much more comfortable for a good couple of years.

How about Chris Jones who is head scout?
I think mowbray and karanka also had decent scouting. The team they built got promoted.

But this is miles ahead of what monk pulis woodgate Warnock were bringing in.
It would be interesting to see what we did with the big bucks should we get them as that's where we've fallen down in the past. Massively overpaying for mediocre players on solid contracts was madness.
We went from Christian stuani, Clayton, Tomlin all under 2 million, George friend for 100k to Ashley Fletcher, Assombalonga and saville.

The Assombalonga and Saville transfers are symptomatic of recent old school football recruitment fails where we needed a player for a position and went and bought said player, seemingly without any thought regarding how they would fit in with the tactics of the manager or the existing players in the squad.

As I said earlier in the thread, there seems to be months and months of work regarding targets and their place in the squad, rather than a scatter gun, throw a few names around, agent led approach that we as a club have been guilty of for years.

Yes, while not sure which player additions he was exactly involved with, let’s also not forget Chris Jones.

What fan base sings the name of back room staff ? I’m sure he’d chuckle at that if it happened at a game .
Kieran Scott’s red and white army !! 🎶🎵👍😎

If we made a hit and miss list, his hits would outscore his misses by a fair margin now.
This season's purchases look really good.

Keep them coming Scotty.
Over and above the player additions, let’s not forget his relatively quick overturn on CW’s Boro career and his replacement with Michael Carrick👍

Full on team effort. From Jones as chief scout, Scott getting them here and probably most importantly Carrick working with them, getting them to play his style and improving them no end to showcase their skills.
Carrick is massively important to the end result and don't want to speak too soon, but quickly becoming my favorite Boro manager since Rioch (when I started following the Boro).
