Kieran Scott appreciation thread

Our scouts have gone from zero's to hero's, now expect every player we bring in to be a wizard! They are finding uncut gems from everywhere!

Arise sir Kieran.

A lot of my threads are aging well these days but absolutely not my horrible one about mr Scott.

I think it’s fair to say I owe him an apology ( to be fair I’ve said that about ten times now but now more so than ever)

He’s been an incredible signing himself. Hope he’s here for years.

To be fair he has gone from zero to hero. The start we had last season was awful, but Carrick has turned ducklings into very fine swans indeed. It did take a long time and i hope fans don’t try to jump on those that were worried with reasonable concern back then it would show little class. However, I hope those who were very critical, equally throw much love Scott’s way as patience was key as I seem to recall Viv_Andersons_Nana calling for to be fair. Apologies if I’ve remembered incorrectly but i’m sure i will be put right if wrong.

We all love Boro and want the best and I’ve just been told Conway is coming for £4.5M so 👏

Well said, and hoof.

I'd particularly give him credit for exploring markets such as the US.

Got criticism for even considering a player from "that part of the world" over the summer, but early signs are he got it right again.

I've been a major critic and didn't like the early recruitment.
I also wasn't a fan of last summer's activity, or the January sales, but objectively the squad is undoubtedly hugely improved.

Rogers, Latte Lath, Dieng, Van den Berg and Forss had already proved that some bloody good players had been brought in.
Credit too for the loans of the wonderful Archer and Ramsey - and for Giles too.
The emergence and growth of McGree, Clarke and young Gilbert also give reason to credit.

This summer's recruitment has made a strong start. Ayling is inspired, Morris looks a major find.

No recruitment team will get every in and out right, and hindsight is an elusive thing, but Kieran Scott definitely serves credit and recognition.
I shouldn't imagine he will care a jot, but he has proved me very wrong, he is clearly a key part in our bright looking future.

Well said

They will be getting it seriously wrong if they let Coburn go

I am not so sure, as sometimes I believe to attract players we have to show we are willing to let players move if it’s better for them.

I think back to Danny Graham, we had to let him go as he needed to play to develop and the quality in front of him here would have stopped that.

Will he get enough game time here to fully develop

I don’t think there is vastly superior quality in front of him that’s why I wouldn’t let him go. PL team unlikely to buy him so selling to a competitor is a big error.

Danny Graham had Viduka, Hasselbaink, Yakubu, Maccarone, Nemeth, Job and Christie ahead of him.
We're not quite there yet.

I say this as someone who is supportive of Danny Graham, Josh Coburn has far more talent and is already a better player than Danny ever was.

Can’t argue with that, but may not be what he wants or the club.

Maybe he wants more guarantees of game time, something we may not be able to provide him with. He has been in and around first team and this will be his 3rd season and not really a regular. Accept injuries may have slowed this progress down

Exactly, people are making the assumption we are pushing Josh out of the door, when the reality is probably that he is pushing for a move as he knows he will play every week elsewhere. You have to be fair to players, even if, selfishly, you would want to keep them here.
