Kieffer Moore or Assombalonga?

The mood when we signed Britt was extremely positive. Its easy enough saying in hindsight he cost too much or we should have spent the money on something else, but had we let Britt go somewhere else at the time, having had the money available, we'd have been criticised by a very significant cohort of our fans for 'not showing ambition' at the time. Sometimes you can't win.

Britt was one of the hottest properties in the division when we signed him. 3 years on he hasn't built on that at all, but he is a consistent Championship striker and actually outperformed Moore last season in terms of goals, even in what was a relatively disappointing season for him.

Britt is what he is, like I said it is not his fault. I for one am not speaking in hindsight about what the squad really needed. I was saying during our promotion and PL years (pre Britt) that we lacked pace and creativity and were too reliant on Adomah. I was told it wasn’t necessary by the majority on here. We signed Ramirez which got us over the line, but we were still not pacy enough in places. I reiterated it every year since. Even Gibson admitted it in his wanting to smash the league speech. Unfortunately the Skillsets needed were never forthcoming enough in the PL, nor subsequently under Monk or Pulis. Like I said, I am not convinced we have ever played to his strengths or had a manager or recruitment window to build a team that compliments and builds on what we had. If anything, we removed pace with workmanlike one paced triers.

Britt is not a flop, but very poor value for money. That as I said is the fault of others. Due diligence seemed to be lacking, his supply chain certainly was/is too.

What are his strengths? I'm not sure hes got many. Strikers like Britt are dead to football now for me the game has changed the last few years and if you want to be successful you need 11 players with a bit of dynamism who can press and compete. He cant do that and it's a very important part of a modern striker now as alot of teams play through the defence alot more. So yes in this day and age slaven probably would struggle and Britt is not good enough especially on his own or in a 3 where he's a central striker. I'm not kicking off about him if he plays I'll get behind him but hes been very poor value and his commitment has to questioned over the last few years due to effort and weight. Hes yet to score this season and goes on long barren spells without a goal which when you consider that's pretty much all he brings to the table 9 times out of 10 it's not an overreaction to be disappointed with him.

I'd like to know how many people have watched Keiffer Moore more than a handful of times over 90 minutes.

Last season was his first proper season at this level, and I'd assume most of us were watching Boro at 3pm on Saturdays when Moore's team were also playing.

Yes, there'll be a few who have, but there'll be more who had barely heard of him until this summer and saw him for the first time this weekend.
I agree👍

Folk get excited about players they have never really seen.

He had a very good year at Barnsley in league 1 and Wigan picked him up for a million. That's when we should have bought him.

I think its only really last season he's come to affor. That was helped by Wigans form and situation. I think he scored 10 last season. 6 of those came post lockdown. So he had 4 by March.... We'd be slaughtering him😂

He's a usuful 'weapon' to have in the armoury. We are crying out for 'his type' as a plan B or to start. I am sure we can find a unit to replace Rudy (he's already been 'replaced' really😂)
