Any recommendations folks? Just had a look on amazon and prices range from £15 to £170 so there's a fair range there and I don't necessarily trust all this 'police approved' stuff, I'd rather go with fmttm approved. I'll let you all know the code once installed
When we needed to provide an emergency key for my mother-in-law in case she had a fall or fell ill (she subsequently had to go into care and sadly passed away a few years later in the Home) after we sold her house we re used the key safe as an emergency key for our house. It is simple and robust and must be ten years + old and still works. If you hire cottages or flats for holiday use you will often see these in use. A quirt of WD40 every couple of years if the mechanism is getting stiff. I've seen them with various different branding, they probably all come out of the same Chinese/Vietnamese sweatshop.
Cheers, that's exactly the one I was looking at for £22, as you say branded differently, master lock. We've got nowt worth pinching apart from the cats but would rather something a little more sophisticated than leaving a key in a plant pot
You need to make sure that the one you get is police approved otherwise your insurer will not cover you if someone breaks into it. We have a auto locking door so have this as a backup and ringing round various insurers (so I'd know what to expect if I switched) that was basically the message they all told me.
Police preferred key safe with anti-theft construction & inner code cover. Ideal for multiple users and the elderly. Free delivery & returns. 5-yr warranty.

These are solid, well built, space for a few keys and you'll be fine with insurers which is, ultimately, the most important thing.
We've used the C500 posted above for the last five years at a cottage we rent out on the coast. Apart from needing a bit of oil a few years ago it's been no problem.
Have a look at the lock picking lawyer on Youtube. He has a go at all stuff, maybe there is something on there that he recommends that would be a good fit.
