Ken Loach - last film

Yes, I am watching Old Oak soon.

I remember seeing Ken Loach's film, I Daniel Blake in Central London and the audience were gob smacked. They didn't believe how grim life was in the North East especially for people who were not using the latest technology. I did feel saying to them Newcastle is well off compared with the Middlesbrough area.

That’s my issue with things like this that it just buys into this geordie myth that they are the ones who are so hard done to,When in reality the huge investment has transformed the city

Whereas in reality as you say compared to us they are like the Home Counties. It’s areas like Teesside that is where the real story is but you’ll never see that Bonny lad.

See aufwiedrsehn pet a show written about Teesside lads needing to go abroad to find work - hijacked by geordie actors.

“The series was created by Franc Roddam after an idea from Mick Connell, a bricklayer from Stockton-on-Tees

I suppose the Transporter featuring centrally in a later series was kind of a VERY belated apologetic nod then.🤔

The Old Oak may be different than the last two Ken Loach films that were based in Newcastle.

The Old Oak is based in the coastal County Durham former pit villages which are more like Carlin How and Loftus or even Redcar (limited employment, seen better days. low incomes).
