Karanka

She must like him. I'd always said the club should appoint him as a club scout and maybe they're now considering it. Some of his player suggestions were so left-field, especially when he suggested we re-sign Rhodes.
Can’t imagine it, this guy was raving at her about telling her dad to appoint Karanka or else!

Absolutely bonkers!! Can you even imagine?

“Hey Dad, Boro786 told me on twitter that you need to hire Aitor Karanka as manager or you’re gonna lose all the fans and the club will go bust”

Maybe that was the reason why talks with Carrick initially broke down. Carrick was in Gibson's office, just about to sign the contract and Gibson's daughter comes bursting in.

"Dad wait, before this goes any further, I need to show you something important".

She shows Gibson the 264 tweets she'd received from Boro786 that day, calling for the return of Karanka and Gibson then turns to Carrick. "I'm sorry Michael but I feel we should put things on hold for now and I'll get back to you".

No wonder our transfers take so long!!

His short ztints make me wonder if he rubs players up the wrong way. Is he a bit mad i wonder. Definitely quite dour personality publicly and strange man management from what higgy suggested.

I don't think he's learned any lessons from his failures and football has moved on from such negative tactics. Still an isolated figure on the sidelines and doesn't seem to allow others ideas.

Im reminded of the Downing interview when he said about Karanka's little book where he wrote down all the times everyone had pi**ed him off. And then the toys coming out of the pram and him flouncing off.

Who would have thought such an egotist would be a rubbish man manager who couldnt hold down a job for very long?

Some parallels between Wilder and Karanka. The "my way of the highway" personna and refusal to alter or change tactics despite the evolution of football dictating the once successful ways of the past no longer work. Undoubtedly a fantastic defensive coach but man management and tactical flexibility severely lacking.

From the interviews with Karanka when he was in charge, I thought that he was quite brilliant in many ways, but a control freak and a workaholic. He seemed obsessed with many details and I am not sure whether he relinquished control over anything. To me, it looked like that approach was not a recipe for long term success.

he's an amazing coach/assistant, his preparation for the opposition when he was here was great, he just believed his own hype, thinks everyone is lucky he is around, if he checked his ego at the door and added some humbleness to his game he could have been one of the great managers, but he acts like he Mourinho without the track record to command that respect as an manager. his ego is too big to address this and will odds on blame everyone else when it goes wrong, under the right manager he would add alot to the coaching setup but think his big head has put himself above these roles now to allow him to step back in his lane.

'his preparation for the opposition' had us surrendering without a shot fired most matches in his last season.
