Just watched the Seville-Betis highlights

They appear to have a pretend crowd and some background noise. I think this actually works better than the Bundesliga's no frills coverage.

Any other thoughts? Is there a plan for anything like this with the PL/EFL?

BT Sport did it for the Dortmund game last weekend, I thought it was really good. Premier League games will also have it as an option. The Bundesliga coverage is using crowd sounds from the last fixture between the two teams, then dropping in reactions to chances, fouls, goals etc. Very clever.

That is clever. If we can get something similar here I will be looking forward to it all starting again even more. Was slightly apprehensive about the 'training ground' feel.

This does sound like a clever idea and definitely one I'd welcome. I didn't last long with the first bundesliga game, partly because I have no interest in the teams, but I still enjoy a good game, but that just felt soulless and I only managed about 15 minutes

Yes, last week's Dortmund game had whistles and boos if they were denied a free kick. Commentator said they were testing it out and may use it in Premiership games.

My understanding is a crowd soundtrack will be available on the TV coverage and a sound engineer will insert appropriate reactions to live situations, this will be able to be switched on or off as the viewer prefers, I’ve also heard suggestions that adding a crowd to the stands as an overlay is being looked at to try and replicate the watching experience as closely as possible to football as we know it.

They might as well, maybe going forward they can just do away with meddlesome fans and expensive stadiums 😆

I think its more crucial with casual PL viewing though, with Boro matches I at least have a vested interest in what's going on.

I see a number of clubs are going with the cardboard cutout fans - including Charlton. I'm not sure how much impact it will have in spurring on players, and it does make me wonder if there are ways of gaining some kind of home advantage.

I expect some clubs will attempt to play crowd noises over their tannoys. Is there anything that Boro could consider? I expect the Red Faction will have some kind of display in the works.

A funny story, and a familiar name to some on here :-)

I think we should just have Mark Page doing commentary over the tannoy. It'll probably guarantee a few red cards at least. Make it a bit lively

We should have some supporters on the big screen on zoom, with audio played through the speakers around the ground. it won't be realistic for our players if they can't hear someone screaming "not sideways clayton ffs!"
