It was set in Chigwell which is estate agent belt of Essex. Chingford is rather down the scale. In series 1 of Only Fools and Horses there is an episode entitled Slow Bus to Chingford.

Agreed. Parts of Chingford were quite nice in the 80s and early 90s. However Chigwell was more upmarket Essex (if there is such a thing).
I am guessing that the houses near the golf course and Epping Forrest cost quite a bit now in Chingford.
I used to enjoy it being around a 25 minute journey by overground train into Liverpool Street. Chingford was one end of the line, Liverpool Street the other.
It took me a 2 1/2 journey home once. Without any delays to the trains.
I was ***ed in the afternoon after a lunchtime Xmas party at work. Got on the train for home and fell asleep. I made a lot of journeys to Chingford and back. There were some dodgy rails going in to Liverpool Street. That woke me up each time. Luckily a guard woke me up at Chingford eventually. Otherwise I think I would have been on the train all night.
