Junior Hoilett

I'm fully expecting Hoilett and Mendez - Lang to be picked up on frees.

I guess Warnock knows what he needs and feels they are his 'type' after having them at Cardiff. I would argue neither has hit any kind of form since the gaffer left. So maybe just not as good as they were.

I would have Morrison. A leader and rugged CB who would probably out score Akpom😂

2 goals 2 assists in 23 games , age 31 in June , no thanks .
That form will not get you in the play offs .
There is a reason Cardiff don’t want to keep him , so what makes him good enough for us ?
And , hasn't played since January . That is lazy recruitment , not good recruitment.

We do need to bring players in with potential that we maybe able to sell on at a profit . As much as we want promotion, it’s important we run as a business the best we can too anyone over 30 need to ba bale to actually do a job like a top 6 club expects .

Another one who is underwhelmed at this sort of signing if it happens. Not had a great time of it recently but good enough for us.... He’s free and this seems to be the main motivator.

Signings like this will not make us promotion contenders I’m afraid

I think wingers need to have mobility and pace so if declining and approaching 31 doesn’t sound ideal. Ok to consider 30 somethings for more defensive duties or operating in a more central role but prefer a younger model on the wing.

If the management team think he can do a job and hes not expensive with something still to prove, I back them.

We picked up older players in the past on short contracts and they have been a success.

I'm not fussed if we bring a couple of players in with no sell on value, if they come in on a free or next to nothing.

It's not like it's a Gestede who comes in with a hefty fee and then leaves on a free.

I'd take him, decent player, knows the league and Warnock's worked with him before.

He's 32 in June so if he comes he will be almost 33 by the time Warnock likely departs. Is he going to come on a one year deal knowing that we may have a new manager the following year. Or will Warnock give him a longer contract making it difficult for a new manager to get rid of a 33 year old if he is not wanted.

No not for me.

On a point of pedantry, he's 31 in June isn't he?

We need numbers in with limited funds. If Hoilett comes in on a free alongside a better, younger wide man then it's not a bad signing. We do need more strength in depth.

However if it ends up as Hoilett and NML as our main wingers (for example) I wouldn't be particularly thrilled.
