Think he'll retire. Nowhere else to go at his ageGutted for Joyce, not sure where this leaves him? Joe Parker / Dereck Chisora level gatekeeper?
Might not get to realise his dreams but still plenty of money to be made surely.Think he'll retire. Nowhere else to go at his age
He could go all Rocky 4 and fight him in China.Joyce has just shown his limitation. Good fighter. Just not world level.
Zhang has fast hands with a lot of power. No chance Fury fights him. Not enough money.
He’s 38 now and taken two absolute hidings. Confidence looks shot. It’ll be hard coming back from that and I’m not sure it’s advisable he tries to.Might not get to realise his dreams but still plenty of money to be made surely.
Money talks. Millions scream. He’s 38 now and taken two absolute hidings. Confidence looks shot. It’ll be hard coming back from that and I’m not sure it’s advisable he tries to.
Although I doubt Joyce will be offered a third fight I think he will do well to avoid this man, Zhang's certainly got his number.chatting to my son in Wuhan tonight. We have no interest in boxing but I mentioned this was on TV here.
Streamed in China. US$5. Zhang gets $1 ..... current estimate? 50M subscribers
I just saw Frank Warren salivating. The Zhang camp want the next one in China. Multiply x 5.
As they say, Asia is the future.
He was in his 30’s when he turned pro.15 fights by the age of 38 ?
He looked a bit Audley Harrison tonight. He was in his 30’s when he turned pro.
Good hands Kidda. The reaction of the casuals is pretty typical - Joyce was never any good, etc
Fact is that Zhang was all wrong for Joyce. He's an athletic 20 stone man with very snappy and heavy punches. Those punches landing clean take any heavyweight out. It's very rare for a massive heavyweight like Zhang to be able to punch like that. But Joyce just didn't have the tools to counteract it. He couldn't establish his jab and he doesn't have the single lights out punches to make Zhang think twice. Joyce was moving to his left but ended up being taken out by Zhang's right hand. Easy work for Zhang. Joyce's best bet would have been to try and collapse the pocket and work on the inside with the aim of taking Zhang down the stretch where stamina would come into play.
It's going to be very tricky for Joyce now as he'll probably still be avoided because he still a problem for many. To say his punch resistance has gone after getting cracked clean by a 20 stone proper puncher is a bit premature. Maybe there might be a fight with AJ down the line.
Sorry mate, but other than the power that Zhang possesses the rest of your post is utter rubbish. The reaction of the casuals is pretty typical - Joyce was never any good, etc

Joyce is too slow to fight the way you correctly suggestedThe reaction of the casuals is pretty typical - Joyce was never any good, etc

That makes sense, but the problem is that Joyce is 38. If he didn't take the rematch he would have to navigate himself into the mandatory position again as an even older fighter. It might have taken him another 3-4 years, by which point he probably would have likely retired.Joyce was beaten before the fight started, you could see the fear in him.
It annoys me when fighters take on journeymen and low ranked opponents following a defeat, but last night was a perfect example of why. Really needed to rebuild his confidence first, but I guess the money of a rematch talks louder. Glad I wasn't a paying spectator
Yeah, he's slow in a robotic type of way. His feet aren't really slow, but he moves slowly. To get in the positions he needed to be he needed to be more dynamic. I guess Joyce has been found out a bit by a really big puncher. But I'd definitely like to see him continue. He's still a handful for many of the prominent heavyweights. If you don't have the artillery to keep him off, you're in trouble.Joyce is too slow to fight the way you correctly suggested
I would imagine Zhang will be avoided like the plague for as long as possible in the hope his age catches up with him !!That makes sense, but the problem is that Joyce is 38. Will be interesting to see where Zhang goes now. Surely it has to be a massive fight as his profile has risen considerably since dealing with Joyce in emphatic fashion. Zhang hits much harder than the likes of Fury and you'd imagine someone like Joshua would be very wary of that kind of fluent punching power.
