Josh McEachran

Signs for Oxford after not being retained by MK Dons.

Turned down Real Madrid at 16, and was once heralded as the future of Chelsea.
I thought he wasn't a bad player at all when he was with us, but injuries look like they have taken their toll.

He had all the right qualities as a teenager, but unfortunately never made it to the next level.

Josh McEachran wants to stay at Middlesbrough

Chelsea have a release clause in McEachran's loan agreement with Middlesbrough, but the midfielder would like to stay with the club for the remainder of the year.

Chelsea lack depth in the center of the midfield, and they've got the option to recall Josh McEachran in January should they choose to do so. Given the choice, though, McEachran would prefer to remain with Middlesbrough for the remainder of the season. Here's what he had to say:
"I’ve been at Chelsea since the age of seven and I’ve grown up there. It’s always been my dream to play regular first team football there. But at present, I’d like to stay here for the rest of the season. We’ve got a genuine chance of going up and I want to be part of it. There’s a long way to go this season and a lot could happen but we have a really good manager here and I like the way he wants to play."

I've got mixed feeling on leaving Josh at Boro for the remainder of the year. He's certainly good enough to get some minutes for the club right now, and it's always nice to see homegrown talent getting a chance with the club. On the other hand, Josh is getting valuable minutes in the Championship, certainly more than he'd get at Chelsea.

Recall or not, it's good to see that Josh is enjoying his time on the pitch at Boro and wants to stick with them all the way through their promotion push. That says a lot about him, and I'm ecstatic that he's having such a fantastic season.

He was a nothing player for me. Didn’t score enough, didn’t get enough assists and wasn’t strong enough in reading the game or the tackle.
One of a long line of poor loan signings at that time.
A waste of a shirt for us.

Recall he started well, looked a good player for a couple of months then........

Sadly one of many, many talented youngsters who sign for a big club along with 50 others, are given a £20-30-40k week 5 year deal if they are deemed "good enough" then are loaned out to 5 different clubs before being released.

Bet there are 1 in 50 make it at their parent clubs after their loans finish.

The numbers these top clubs can stockpile needs to be stopped.

He was a good neat and tidy player when it was quite unique to be a neat and tidy player if you were English. Nowadays these sort of players are ten a penny and you expect young players to have technique, whereas ten years ago if an English player seen a ball they would attempt to kick it as far and as hard as possible.

Started promisingly enough but faded badly.

There was one home game, possibly Sheff Wed, where he and Leadbitter absolutely ran the show. They were like a championship Xavi and Iniesta.

He went on this mazy run beating 3 or 4 players but couldn't find the finish with just the keeper to beat (arguably summed him up). Would've been one of the best goals at the Riverside if he'd scored it.

I remember he made a really promising start and complimented Leadbitter well in the midfield.

We were predicting that he would go on to partner Jack Wilshere in England's midfield and would become a regular at Chelsea.

Not sure why his performance levels dropped so dramatically after the turn of the year.

Was a poor man’s hayden hackney, sadly back in 2012 that would have made him one of our better players next to the likes of Faris haroun and Nicky Bailey

The best I can say is he was like the initial prototype for a future George Saville (unfortunately both were flawed)
