Yeah, playing people out of position seems to be viewed rather too simplistically. I remember Robbie Mustoe being pressed into service at left back for one game. I was pretty confident he'd be fine in the role. He was an unmitigated disaster.

They're all treated and taught the same play anywhere they are footballers

They are, but it's to make them comfortable getting possession in different areas and to understand the needs of players in different positions. It doesn't mean that they're able to play all over the field at a high level of senior football

Remember Zenden though, he played well out wide, central midfield & at left back....
Reckon he could've done a few more positions aswell....

Well Akpom has to step up today, he can’t say he hasn’t got the attacking influences around him with Tav and Watmore being more direct and the crosses into the box from Johnson.
