Johnny Vegas

I don’t mind him, I like a lot of shows he’s been in.

But I don’t have strong feelings about marmite too.

I like him.

As a leaving present from my old job they got me his autobiography, and one of them got it signed for me. 10 years on and i was telling my new boss this story and he said that Johnny is his dads cousin. small world!

I’ve found some of the stuff he’s done funny.

Unlike Phil Jupitus, David Baddiel & Josh Widdicombe who are all absolutely dreadful.

Met him at a macmillan coffee morning over the lakes a couple of year back, plenty of time to chat to folk and seemed down to earth. He was hanging n stunk of drink like

I spent a week with him filming a Salvage Hunters special. A genuinely nice fella, but "always on" and "full on". I think he might have an ADHD diagnosis (I think he said as much). He is almost impossible to manage. You'd need him for a sequence, turn around and he'd be gone. He was easy enough to find mind you.... the nearest pub, where he'd be holding court with the locals. He was pretty fearless in that regard too. But he had a genuine interest in collecting odd stuff and cried when we arranged for him to switch on the lights at Blackpool. Was he funny? Yeah, a fair bit of the time he was. But hard work.
As someone afflicted, unless you have ADHD, you can’t realise the havoc it causes in your life. The always ‘on’ and the inability to sit still makes interpersonal relationships difficult, as my long suffering missus could testify!
I think Johnny is a very funny bloke, comes across really canny.

You mean almost like he’s a comedian or something?
I'm not a comedian, I'm an entertainer was his catchphrase back in the day. I saw him regularly at the Frog and Bucket in Manchester. We ended up going out after the gig and he stayed with us at a friend's house. He was a great fella and caring. He gave me his card and signed it, from one Boro boy to another, Johnny.
