John Coddington RIP

I’ve just received a text stating John Coddington has passed away.

John was a lovely man and one of life’s true gentlemen. In his latter years he suffered with dementia and forgot those he once called friends.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

RIP

Met him as a teenager when he was introduced to my dad, he was very much a gentleman, but he also made sure he had time for me too rather than just my dad, he ensured I was involved in the brief chat at all times, which was thoughtful. He asked me who my favourite player was and I told him Jim Platt. 10 minutes later, I am introduced to Jim Platt 😍
R.I.P John

Was going to ask if he was related to Matt, who’s name stood out me as a kid after I’d seen it on a team photo in about 1990. Same as Dale Anderson and Michael Trotter.

RIP.

It's not often remembered that he once scored a goal for Boro when he was with Blackburn. It was almost the exact same goal that Noel Whelan scored, but 30 years earlier. I remember it like it was yesterday.
