Jim Platt Book Signing

Jim Platt on writing and documenting one of Boro's greatest seasons in the club's 148 year history. The 1973/74 season goes down in Boro's folklore as one of the club's best, and Jim provides clear insights into the players, the club and all matches played during this campaign.

The book's 283 pages, packed with stats and photos, includes brief memoirs of Jim growing up in Northern Ireland before joining Middlesbrough and reflects on his playing career as an international goalkeeper whose pinnacle was playing for his country at two World Cup tournaments.

We look into the following season when Boro appeared in the First Division, when with a little more good fortune and if Jack had spent a bit of money buying a new forward, the title could have been a real possibility. Yes, really!
The book has just been printed and will be available from this weekend (16th March) when Jim will appear in the club shop selling signed copies (cash only). Cost is £25 for each book which can also be bought online by contacting Jim at sharonplatt@me.com . The P&P charge for this A4 size book is £5.

Loved Platty but £25 for a book!!!

Is it just me that thinks that’s too expensive?
Books are really expensive to print and publish now. Costs have spiralled over just the past 2 or 3 years. The only way to keep costs down is by printing thousands. But then it is really difficult to sell thousands. A good quality, hard backed book is no longer cheap to produce and the author struggles to get their money back.
