I'll echo that. I didn't know that going to the loo often was a sign. Luckily I was having back problems at the time and I had an mri scan prior to a back operation. The scan told me about my discs and the last sentence in the latter said slightly enlarged prostate. I thought hmmm I better get that checked out. I got a psa test at the docs. The normal reading is 0-4 mine was 5.8. So I had to have a biopsy. (Not nice). This proved I had prostate cancer and I was put on active surveillance which lasted 3.5 years. My psa reading gradually increased to 11.7 and I was given a choice of radiotherapy or a prostatectomy. I decided to get it taken out. The operation was done at the Freeman in Newcastle and was a complete success. My psa reading is now 0.007 which means the cancer is gone. I still will have to be checked out cos cancer is sometimes sneaky. But now I'm ok and even the little leakage is almost gone. Tens is my friend.
10000 men for from prostate cancer each year and it can be detected by a simple blood test.

Good advice Windy, I had mine done a year ago as part of an overall health check. It also makes you feel good when you get a nice tick

Glad to hear you beat it 👍

I had the ‘test’ done s few years ago and was told I had an enlarged prostate.
Nothing to worry about I was told .
Its normal for my age.
Put on Tamulosin tablets that get me through night as long as I have less than s few pints.
I asked my doctor recently for another ‘test’ and was told it wasn’t necessary.

I was a bit surprised.
So what can you do ?.
Change doctor or just take his word!.

I think it is great that more and more men are willing to be open and share their personal experiences as it helps others and encourages more to share and thus help others know they are not alone and have no need to be embarrassed. Thanks for posting that windy, I am sure it will help readers with awareness and to push for tests. Really pleased you are free of it 👍

My grandad died of it in the early nineties. As I’m knocking on fifty I asked the doctor when would I start needing checks? The reply was not until you show symptoms which doesn’t sound at all right to me.

I would push a bit more Jim there are several conflicting symptoms going to the loo too often. Having difficulty peeing. Getting up 3 or 4 times during the night. The psa test is a simple blood test and can be done by a nurse at the surgery.

Good advice windy. And guys never be ashamed to go to the drs regardless.
I’d been getting leg pains and was told any persistent paid, get it checked out. Turns out I have the leg version of tennis elbow, which has since subsided, which I’m over the moon about.

but too many guys have passed because of stubbornness, if it hurts get it checked out. I’m 33 and seen a girl I know die of terminal cancer due to symptoms she ignored.
