Really pleased for him, met him a few times at kids footy and he is a great lad. Happy to chat and really humble.

When he played for us he was a really good shot stopper, but the other elements of his game weren't quite at the same level, plus he was paying behind an atrocious defence, which never helps.
 
He started off okay for us, some promising games, but then the mistakes started creeping in, a lot of missed crosses and then his decision making and shot stopping became worse. Clearly lost all confidence. Things seemed to get worse at Sunderland. I guess he needed the time out from being the first team keeper to rediscover his self-confidence and belief. Amazing turnaround. Good luck to him.

It shows that life doesn’t necessarily end after being rejected.👍🏻

Pears rejected us, didn't he?

We offered him a new contract, he didn't sign it.

He moved from Wynyard to the south coast last summer. People always assume its only footballing reasons that contribute to an upturn in form, and it may be here, but it may just as easily be that he's a lot more settled now he has his family with him down south instead of commuting and has simply found his mojo.

Yeah, his kid was in my daughters class. He’s putting down roots.

It was a good interview, listened to it live whilst making the tea.
He was asked about the abuse he got on social media when he was younger.
He didn't say whether this was at Boro or whilst as Sunderland.

I thought this was something to do with Warnock.. wasn’t his dad getting involved saying his son should be starting and Warnock thought it was best for him to leave and progress on his own in a different environment?
