January window sunk out season

All those that were delighted with the Rogers money, how we feeling now?

We were never investing that money in January, so selling him was always going to make us a worse team. We started the season with 2 strikers, went into January with 2 injured strikers and finished the window with 2 injured strikers. To not bring one on loan or a free has ruined the season.

We play some lovely football, dominate games but we’re simply incapable of putting the ball in the net.

To then sell Crooks, one of our few players who knew how to be right place, right time in the box with no chance of a replacement is unforgivable.

Fans who’ve paid for season tickets this season have been cheated, the club simply hasn’t been competitive.

Sunk before that, well before. We've been clinging on to the coat tails for months.

Buying a season ticket doesn't guarantee you an exciting season, as most season ticket holders in football will confirm.

One thing though, Carrick and Co have a hell of a job on their hands to turn the football team into a promotion challenging one. There's some very good players in the side but there are some that aren't going to get any higher than they are now.

I feel pretty chilled.

Wrong. The summer window sunk our season. With or without Rogers we wouldn't be getting promoted so made as much sense to take the money while it was on offer.

I agree with Nano and that’s why I thought we’d finish mid table this year.

Give over - so that means the fans are cheated nearly every season!!??

I wish some people would stop wetting their pants and being so entitled.

Rogers for Azaz I could understand..

But then letting Crooks go without bringing in someone at least on loan.. FFS

We needed a striker and right back since the end of last season. Doesn’t look like O’Brien has worked (injury aside), so definitely need those three positions sorting as early as possible this summer. Hopefully we won’t lose anyone else apart from people like McNair (out of contract), get rid of dijksteel, not sure about greenwood.

Erm..... I'm feeling fine ...
Azaz has played the last two games like Rogers did .. very pretty at times and lovely touches . Obviously qualities, but also obvious deficiencies

Rogers scored a few goals in 20 league games .. was hardly likely to do an akpom 2nd half of the season.. so right now ( with what I've seen) Azaz+10million looks a good deal for us

We signed Azaz before Rogers left ... So even if he stayed , you'd probably have Rogers up top and still be crying out for a CF .

Had we kept Rogers we'd still be try to force two or three 10s into round holes out wide or up top

Obviously there was no intention of bringing a loan /free agent CF in .. that's nowt to do with anyone other than the recruitment team..

There's a lad on loan at Ipswich banging them in on all accounts?

I think it's pretty obvious the club didn't believe we had much of a chance of promotion this season, and have basically said let's just see if we can scrape into the playoffs with the squad that we've got, and if not at least the club is sitting on this money, which we can spend in the summer.

Whether we do spend a decent percentage of the money, or spend it wisely remains to be seen.

I’ve gotta say, it’s all well and good having money to spaff but if there’s nothing worth buying or possibly no one willing to come on a sensible budget, what do we do…

Like the co commentator for the PNE feed said, all we were missing last night was chubba and archer.. that’s where this season was lost, the summer…

I suppose it depends on how you look at it. A squad that was low on numbers with little potential needed to be rebuilt. Cant do it with thin air so sold people in the summer to enable the first part of the rebuild. Yes Chuba would have made a difference last night but he wanted to move on. He got a mega contract at Ajax and the best of luck to him. Given the injuries and bedding in needed for the new players I was quite impressed that we were so close to the play offs. Gutted about losing Crooks and Rogers and there loss at the minute is accentuated by Lath and Coburn being out. I accept that football is all about the here and now but I think we are going the right way. Barring 2 calamitous keeper mistakes we would be 3 points better off. There is no way we deserved to lose last night. I am quite excited about the future tbh and the thought of Keifer Moore being on the books on mega money for the next 2 or 3 years makes me think the club did right in keeping the powder dry.

Also incapable of keeping it out of the net, you start every game with a point
