January 1971 - FA Cup 3rd Round v Man Utd

Same here - never seen it before

I remember as a little boy waiting for the score flashes on the bottom of the TV screen say during Coronation Street. The TV companies occasionally did it for big cup ties for local teams. I don't think Radio Teesside had started for that game.

Thanks you, I have a pic of that on my desk top Erimus sent it me. Duffle coat, blue cords, black Tuf shoes with the compass in, Red and white scarf, idiot mits and a balaclava on.

What a win and the excitement was incredible 41,000 there, I thought we would be beaten we went to the away game, my first not local one Nufc or Safc. I remember the excitement when the tickets were delivered ( they did then for ST holders) and my brother said we are playing against the best forward line again and we were the underdogs.
Filling up a bit here... great people around me.

Talking of the snow, we used to sometimes get a 2nd half blizzard even during the 70s, there wasnt never a murmur about abandoning the game.
I used to love to play football in the snow at school games time and the odd school team game in it too.
Brought back some lovely memories that game.

Another game, blizzard, that sticks in my memory, also the following days headlines when John Neal said, 'I wish I could keep this team of players'
He knew the boards intentions & paid the ultimate price with his resignation

Barely see when pulls the ball back for the cross, I love beating Villa , they had some side then mind. Its hard to believe how we ended up skint, we sold the crown jewels and then the family silver.
