Jack Nicholson

Al Pacino.

Of many top tier performance, his role as Vincent hanna is my personal favourite

Other top roles, obviously Micheal corleone in the godfather trilogy, scent of a woman, glengarry Glen ross

Kenneth Branagh for me in Conspiracy..its like he's not actually acting. Frightens the doo-doo out of me

Another (unexpected) name to add to this list of actors able to leave themselves at the door and present utterly different characters is Hugh Grant. He's become extraordinarily good at it. He's virtually unrecognisable from his former self in "Cloud Atlas", "The Gentlemen" and others. And he completely steals "Paddington 2".

Oldman is ridiculously good. A lot, maybe even most, of the big names are very very watchable, but there's always a feeling you're watching a version of themselves, no matter how good they are. I think some are just so charismatic they can't help but have that shine through through to some extent. Tom Hanks is always playing Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise always plays Tom Cruise etc. Very entertaining, very watchable and often high quality acting. But you're never really in doubt who is playing the role.

Oldman is a chameleon though. Half his films it's a struggle to recognise it's him.
Gary Oldman is a fantastic actor. Daniel Day Lewis is by far and away the greatest I think, for the same reason.

I’m not sure what Oldman was thinking when he made this though. Or any of the other huge names in the cast.
