Neil Warnock is looking forward to seeing a young Boro side step up against Blackpool in the Carabao Cup this evening (7.45pm).

Argentinian Olympic international Martin Payero is set to make his debut for the club and he will be joined by a number of youngsters as the Boro boss shuffles his pack for the Bloomfield Road clash.

“You have to try and pick the best team you can to win the game with what you have,” said Warnock.

“We’ve got to use some of the youngsters, but it’s a good grounding for them and they’ll be looking forward to it.”

Having travelled to Fulham on Sunday and with Bristol City due at the Riverside on Saturday, the early season cup tie has meant a quick turnaround for Warnock and his squad.

Blackpool had a day extra to prepare, having snatched a late equaliser at Bristol City on Saturday, and the boss says he has been impressed with the Seasiders and their manager Neil Critchley.

“I think their manager has done a great job,” said Warnock.

“They got a good point at Bristol City at the weekend, and I watched them at Sunderland last season when they were fantastic.

“I’ve always enjoyed going to Blackpool and I don’t think I’ve done too badly there over the years.

“It’s nice to play without any points at stake, and we have to go there and try and make a fist of it, and enjoy ourselves.”

No advertising or flash funders - only skill, grit and youthful determination to reach for the skies.
