Some people talking about not paying the licence.
Don't fall into the trap. It's the current board ? Infested by tories. It's win win for these venal ba*****s, move focus away from the ridiculous proposals on the boats AND have people agitate against the BBC as an entity.
Sell it off. Job done.
Don't get drawn in. Pursue the board and the tories.
These s***s do the same thing with the NHS. Make it unworkable to get people to criticise the institution not the govt. Blaming hospitals instead of the Tory filth. Eventually moving it to privatisation.

Exactly this.

Most of the people who use the #defundtheBBC tag will support what the board has done.

It was clearly a deliberate Tory strategy from the 90’s onwards to infiltrate the BBC and the have been entirely successful. From Radio 4’s Today show and even their evening slot from 10pm, to the Tory Doner Senior Management control of TV news, which then leads to Murdock lickspittle Neil and Boris lover and Ri Chun Hee impersonator Laura Kuntzburg.

While I wholeheartedly agree with the OP, it will be very difficult to separate the organisation from the people who are actually responsible and at fault here.
In a way it's like our dislike for the black and white team up the road. Having a murderous regime in charge of them inevitably means that even their decent non-horse bothering fans get lumped in with all the bad apples.

Part of the issue, and one of the reasons I keep getting into debates about the beeb on here, is that people seem to keep assuming that because Sharp did what he did, and Davie used to be a Tory councillor, that “the BBC” is just 20,000 staunch Tory voters churning out as much Right wing content as they can. And yet all the while, actual Right wingers (like Matt Le Tissier) remain absolutely convinced that it’s all Left wing/wokist rubbish.

This is not proof of anything. No matter how right wing the BBC become, right wingers will always complain that they are too left wing. They will keep turning the thumbscrew.

You’d imagine that if the BBC was churning out such Right wing content, those Right wingers would want them to continue doing so?

Yes of course, by insisting that they are still displaying a left wing bias.
Hmm ok. I see where you’re going with this. Why don’t they do that with other news outlets tho? Why don’t they say the Daily Mail aren’t Right wing enough?

Those of a more conservative mindset probably don’t want a state funded broadcaster at all but if they are churning out so much stuff that helps their agenda surely they wouldn’t actually want to abolish it? Which is what will happen if both the Left and Right keep saying it’s too Left and too Right.

The Daily Mail et al can do exactly what they want. They can hold and espouse whatever political views they wish, because they are not beholden to anyone to be impartial.
I understand that. So what I’m asking is why, if the BBC are doing a great job of promoting the right wing agenda, would right wingers want to see it abolished? It has easily the biggest reach in the UK.
