it's looking quite possible...

Michael Carrick repeated yesterday [Media Conference] that we will judge the success of the League campaign at the end of the season - not before.
We would all be delighted.
He assured reporters that: "we are all in a good place right now" and that he wants to keep the current momentum going.
As usual with Michael - he remained cool as a cucumber - lets not get carried away. (y)

Look at brighton
look at Brentford
Look at villa
Look at Leeds

To name a few it’s not impossible in fact it’s quite easy if you do it right.

Our problem was a vanity project and buying mercenaries that didn’t care what happened to the club.

possible, if remote: many team would have to have a dip in form not just Sheff Utd & we'd need to continue on a great run..

Signings in Jan could really help, Archer looks a very solid & decent addition - would have liked it to be a permanent deal..

I don’t think it’s probable still: remember we are almost exactly the same place we were this time last season.
Yes but in infinitely better shape after the debacle at the start of the season and now have players who are in unison with the management and want to play for them.

I don’t think we’re going up this season and if we did, I think we’d be whipping boys.

We’ve had a brilliant run under Carrick - new manager bounce ++. Pretty much same as last year under Wilder though.

If a miracle happens and we sneak in through the playoffs our squad is nowhere near good enough to compete up there, nowhere near. Thinking about it, outside of the loanees (and maybe including them) there’s not a single Premier League player in the squad. You’d be talking about a Forest job, 15 new players - massive outlay and no guarantees it would work.

We’re not Karanka’s promotion team - yet.
If we do make it we won’t be sneaking.. we’ll be powering up there on par with the two automatic promotion teams. We’ll need to bring in around 12 players anyway a perfectly normal summer window in that sense. Our outlay will be determined by our recruitment.. let’s say for ague ents sake we keep 11 of our current squad and we bring in another 11

Roberts
McNair—Fry—Lenihan—Bola
Jones—Crooks—Hackney—McGree
Akpom—Forss

Two of those can be loans..
Steffen & Archer

Say five free transfers?
RW Adama Traore - Liverpool
LW Mohamed Elyounoussi - Southampton
MF Nicolas Raskin - Standard Leige
RB Julian Ryerson - Union Berlin
CD Jan Paul Van Hecke - Brighton

Four transfer fees?

LB Ryan Giles - £10m
CD Mason Holgate - £10m
MF Sander Berge - £25m
ST Viktor Gyokeres - £15m

£50m to £60m outlay.. hopefully spent more wisely with some better deals going down..
of course there are no guarantees and we’re getting WAY ahead of ourselves from a team that was in danger of relegation after take the pish chris pulled a strachan on us.

we’ll be in a similar position as last time, but with more experience, a better recruiting set up and with a better manager.

last time round we broke up the band, we gambled on injured players and packed the squad with Spanish mercenaries (not including Traore in this btw)

the answer? top end british players aged 26 and under, experience prem players in the mix with local players looked as priority Durham, Sunderland, Teesside etc NORTHERN LADS!

Who’s our best couple of players, Akpom, Giles, maybe Lenihan?

Do we reckon they could cut it in the Prem? I’m not sure. There’s Erling Haalands up there!

Steffen was good enough for Man City
Fry was wanted by prem clubs in the summer.. again
Giles is on loan from a prem club.. so hopefully on his way
Forss is the same sort of level
Archer is highly rated bumpy Aston Villa
Akpom is finally reaching his potential as seen at Arsenal
Hackney is still developing, McGree will hopefully get there
Jones hasn’t just disappeared into thin ait
Watmore and Crooks did well in the cup competitions
I’d fancy Barlaser to cut it too tbh

I think we have enough and the right unity to make the play offs. If we make 3rd or 4th, then I'd fancy a trip to Wembley, then who knows.

If we go up and start with only what we have we would get mauled.
Only Akpom and Hackney look to me to have what it takes. Possibly Fry too.

We would need virtually a full first team and retain some of the better players only as squad players.
I personally wouldn't buy Steffen or any of the other loans (Archer excluded as not seen him play enough. Giles would depend on the fee for me).
Buy quality, knowing you can sell if required, rather than quantity that you will get stuck with on dropping.

Yes there is

but there’s also palace Brentford villa Bournemouth Southampton etc.

We don’t have to compete with city we just have to finish 4 th bottom or higher.
