it's looking quite possible...

that we could be promoted, with emphasis on possibly.

Anyway, if it happens do you think we would survive more than one season? Will it be different to last time? If so, why?
What do you think?

I think we have a good chance of going up.

Think we could certainly do better than last time as in my opinion the most important factor in a clubs performance (except money) is the manager / coaching team.

And at present, ours looks very good!

Could go up, could stay up.

But if we did go up, I'd be realistic and go in to the season with the assumption that relegation is the most likely outcome.

I think we stay up because we will be more sensible about it, look at Nottingham Forrest.. panic buys tons of championship players.

If we go up I don’t think we take the risks like we did last time. we don’t have all our eggs in one basket, two good players for every position.. all premier league capable.

I think the second paragraph of your post is exactly what forest were going for.

I don’t think we’ll go up this year, if we did we’d almost certainly come back down but either way I hope it’s fun 👌🏻

2023 - promotion
2024 - champions
2025 - 3rd in the league, Fa cup win and champions league quarter finals
2026 - Carrick takes the Man United job, Woodgate takes over and we get relegated.
Bryan Robson did 7 years at boro
Alex Fergusson did 7 years at Aberdeen
Brian Clough did 6 years at Derby
Steve McClaren did 5 years at boro
I’d say give it 7 years.. and see where we are with things

We are going up...I can feel.it in my water ...
I backed us at 33 to 1 to win the league upon carricks appointment
..... let me be the first to say I realise that would take a gargantuan collapse by Burnley....but....
And also backed is at 8 to 1 to win the play offs.....
Having said allllll that ....its the boro....so we probably won't...but...if....if we do....I would love taking my young ones to the biggest clubs in world football....just once...and to see the banner players....even though it is likely we will come down with out a 1996 type investment....what a ride...what a rollecoaster...and even though I scream to get off sometimes...I find myself queuing again when the ride stops.

Far too early to be getting carried away. It has taken an incredible run just to get into the playoff spot. We have Millwall, Sunderland and Watford up next. If we don't win at least 2 of them we could be back down to 12th because the league is so tight.

Realistically we need to continue this run for another 10 games or we need another similar run at some point later in the season because we will have a bad run at some point. That's not because we're not good enough or Carrick suddenly doesn't know what he's doing. It's the championship and we all know how competitive it is.

I think we will be similar to last season where the end of our home run knocked our confidence and we never recovered. We can get over losing away to the top of the league team, we might not by losing against Sunderland, Blackpool or Cardiff and our terrible start to the season means it is too big an ask. Hopefully we do it and another 5 or 6 wins in the next 10 will make it more realistic.

We are now odds on to finish top 6.

I am still weary that Norwich and Watford will pick up and WBA are doing similar to us - those three have better squads than us.

I don’t think we’re going up this season and if we did, I think we’d be whipping boys.

We’ve had a brilliant run under Carrick - new manager bounce ++. Pretty much same as last year under Wilder though.

If a miracle happens and we sneak in through the playoffs our squad is nowhere near good enough to compete up there, nowhere near. Thinking about it, outside of the loanees (and maybe including them) there’s not a single Premier League player in the squad. You’d be talking about a Forest job, 15 new players - massive outlay and no guarantees it would work.

We’re not Karanka’s promotion team - yet.
