It appears The Sun’s claims

The Sun must have *some* evidence, whatever that may be, the parent(s), notice it’s both now, have apparently doubled down on their side of the story now.

Just because there is a technicality that it is not breaking the law. Morally there is something strange about a presenters relationship with someone that is young. If they were a few years older it may be understandable, but if they are substantially older then surely this must be stopped.

Its still news. Its been all over the press and media and is so even now, usually on the page headed 'NEWS'.
Perhaps the story is actually not who the presenter is, but what dead cat is this keeping out of the news eg emails about politicians selective sexual proclivities.

Why not just wait until the story runs its course and see what the outcome is, instead of trying to be a smart arts.

I'd stick to making lists of all the Boro players in team formation. At least we all know that just guesswork.
a total non story.. like I said.

I’m not sure, if the story is true that the 35k paid for the kid‘s drug habit where is the money coming from to pay for the kids lawyer? And if it is true the kids is an addict then wouldn’t there be a motivation to keep the money coming. Note the ‘ifs’ above before you hang me.

If the BBC had this reported to them a month or so ago (true or not) why didn’t they report it to the police straight away. Then whenever they’re approached they can hold their hands up and say ’we reported it to the police, can’t comment there’s an investigation’. If it is true they did the right thing, if it isn’t their asses are covered anyway and the did the right thing. Instead true or false they’ve made a mess of it.

Who is paying for his 725 £ a hour lawyers mind?

just a thought , because i could not summon up lawyers like them in a heartbeat

The Sun ( right wing trash talking tory led comic) trying to burn down the BBC ( tory led government mouth piece).

Talk about blue on blue. Out of control.
This government is tearing itself apart.

Shame.

My take is this it is just a Murdoch rag doing a number on the BBC
No smoke without fire - it’s the bbc ffs, an utterly corrupt and disgusting organisation who covered for nonces like Saville and Stuart Hal

There was with Cliff Richard and Paul Gammbaccini

the person is in their twenties.. the whole set up sounds like a money grab from a family member. the sun is on its knees.. surely it won’t be long before it’s binned. the independent is the new incarnation now I would have thought.. all bought and paid for and lifelong peerage given out.

It’s a bit more interesting the story that isn’t being covered on Boris Johnson (and another on George Osbourne)
That's all it's about. Burying other stories.

I've not followed this story much, and I have little interest in it.
However, it does smack of The Sun looking for another Philip Schofield who can be dragged in to the street and beaten with sticks by the mob.
When there has been a big story, it's not uncommon for the media to go looking for something similar to follow it up. It's also not unknown for family members to see this as an opportunity to cash in: the Shannon Matthews story followed hot on the heels of the McCann case.

The Sun is criticised, and rightly so, but we get the media we deserve, and if there wasn't a market for this rubbish, it wouldn't exist.

Your last sentence sums it up. The great British public lap this sort of sordid stuff up. Gossips on Twitter are relentless and some clearly don’t understand libel laws and may pay for it.

Exactly this. The tabloid press and Social Media in particular have become an absolute cesspit just looking for their next victim. The latest story overnight with regards to a well respected newsreader whom less than a year ago was being lauded for the handling of the Queen's death sums this up perfectly. It's disgusting but so long as ghouls exist then it will carry on.

It's been 30 years since I read Orwell's 1984 but the thing that always stuck with me was the masses gathering for their half hour of hatred every morning, where they got to shout and scream their rage at a pre-selected target. I'm sure I won't be the first person to point out that old George knew what he was talking about.
Bit like that episode of black mirror....white bear??
