Said a while ago a £45m kitty from Spence, Jones, Fry and Tav will give Wilder all the ammunition he needs to get in his own promotion squad.

It might be that I try to take life a bit less seriously these days, but rumours about clubs possibly coming in for our players doesn't upset me. Don't get me wrong, I love watching Jones play and that interview with him was very refreshing.

But, at least nowadays we have 'young starlets' at the club that 'bigger' teams want and I think this is a good thing. It proves to me that we are no longer a retirement home for (massively) overpaid cloggers! Instead we can nurture young talent that other teams want to sign and to be that is a good thing.

In Gibbo I trust and UTB (y)

could this story be linked to the spence deal... we are seen to have approaches being made for jones so don't need to sell spence on the cheap sort of thing

It would be a minor miracle if we got 15 million for a right back who has 1/2 a good season in the second tier in his career and another 15 million for a RB who was loaned out and has has 1 good full season in the second tier - both of which cost us next to nothing

Given Jones route into football, that he came from the none league set up, was at the age where he might have started to think he wouldn't get a shot and now has only just established himself as a first team regular I'd like to think he would share the opinion the majority of Boro fans have that the riverside is the best place for his development.

If he repeats his success of the first half of last season throughout next season he would be in a great position to become a prem footballer, either with ourselves or someone else.

I would take 15m for him, its still a bit of an unknown as to whether he can keep the standard or improve on his form from last season bar the last 10 games

We've got a huge turnover of players to to make up make that worse with key players and £45m doesn't go as far as you would imagine. We need to hit the ground running and be in a position to make the playoffs or be promoted automatically.

I dont see us selling him but if we did he would go for more than Spence - hes better going forward and in defence and creates a lot more, better attitude

£45m for those 4 players seems very low, all on 2 years or more contracts

I agree, we need to stick with as much of the key players we already have and add to them to make us stronger. Having a brand new team from a £45m war chest would take time to gel and be highly unlikely to get us promoted next season.

Their attention and form is a welcome change of fortunes for our recruitment team. Along with Bola and Crooks. Bought for peanuts.

Compared to the days of Britt, Fletcher and Saville - bought for a fortune and left for nothing.

Whilst 15mil is great for a player for from none league. I mean it's frankly amazing buisness.

You'd be disappointed to lose both of the best young fullbacks (RBs) in the championship. You'd wonna ideally keep one and thats Jones.

I've been the first to slate the sheer amount of millions we've 'sp*nked' on the likes of Flint / Saville / Fletcher and Britt etc etc. Yet we could easily pick up in excess of 30mil for Spence and Jones. The pair pair cost us zip... Stunning buisness 👌

I'd be gutted to lose him. Although 15mil would be very hard to knock back. I hope we bung his none league outfit a couple of quid if we ever cash in.

As mentioned above , there's his form at the end of last season, which seems to have been overlooked by the media, and then there's the 'second season syndrome' to beware.
We could start the season with no right-wing-backs if not careful.
