Is Warnock is a better manager than karnaka?

Would karnaka have saved us from relegation last season?

Would Warnock have won promotion with the squad that karnaka had?

If both had an equal budget who would you pick?

Is a 72 year old record promotion winning manager better than a bloke who done a canny job at 1 club but still resulted in the sack and then went to Forest and got the sack and is now at Brum probably in for a below average season?

Yeah he probably is mate , if you think about it

Not for me. If Karanka had these players he'd struggle even more. Like I said above, Karanka had players like Bamford and Ramirez.

Warnock's had more promotions than Karanka could dream of and I think if he's backed, he'll get us up, but it's more likely to be next season.

At the moment they're 2 points apart with pretty average squads and probably about where you'd expect in the table.
It's not really a great comparison though, one has a wealth of experience and one is relatively new to management.
I think they've both done good jobs for us, although Warnock seems to get an easy ride from the fans (early days I know) and Karanka had every single decision and comment analysed when we lost.

Two point difference as it stands. Warnock has been lauded. Maybe the team believe they’re better than they are, as AK would say.

Until Warnock achieves promotion, AK is the better Boro manager.

Karanka had a squad guttted out for him before he arrived and was given £30m to spend on attackers alone.

He’s achieved one promotion on his whole career.

Warnock has eight promotions under his belt and inherited an absolute dog’s dinner after years of mismanagement from Gibson and has had £2m to spend on Akpom.

The two situations simply aren’t comparable.

I agree, that’s why I said AK will be the better Boro manager till NW gets a Boro promotion. If he does it on a lesser budget, he’ll be the better Boro manager. It’s opinions and judgements.
TM was taking Boro down when AK came in, he stabilised, he took us to a Play-Off final with decent cup runs, playing good football. Then haven earned a budget from the previous season performance, he took us up without suffering a play-off final defeat hangover. Just wish he was properly backed in the premier league Jan window.
Warnock kept us up from a more precarious position and in a shorter time period. Decent start to the season, gone a bit pear shaped, let’s see what he does....

Karanka was given an easy ride for the first few months. We even went 6 games without scoring and everyone stayed quiet. The season after he did very well and deserved an easy ride, the fans were united behind him. It wasn’t until the promotion year that every match was analysed, because expectation had risen, then he walked out two days before a massive match! Not hard to see why he was scrutinised after that.

wasn’t an easy ride during that six games at all. Lots of fingers being pointed and questions asked. I was happy he was starting from back and instilling the basics. Shame the old forum is down for these discussions.

He has done.. many times. That's the point. I loved Karanka btw didn't want him to go and would have had him back in a heartbeat.

Warnock is the better manager by far.

Warnock easily. Had he had the squad and money Karanka had, we’d be promoted, I have absolutely no doubt about that at all.
However, if Karanka had this squad, and the way he seemed to have his favourites, I think we’d be in a relegation battle with confidence at a low.

Warnock is clearly the better manager overall but for Boro Karanka has been better, up till now. Still early days for Warnock though.

It's all well and good saying Karanka inherited a better side. Both were in similar positions in the table and in similar ruts when they took over though. Both deserve credit for turning it around.

In the play-off final season Karanka had more money, but not as much as some seem to think. Think his biggest signings were Clayton and Kike weren't they? So maybe about £5m for the pair.

Suppose you could say he had Tomlin from the previous year and Bamford and Vossen loan fees. But still compared to some not ridiculous. Even though we fell short I think that was probably his best year. Got the best out of the squad and played good football.

The following season was where we more obviously splashed the cash.

Exactly and to take it one step further, someone like McClaren was ridiculed for saying "magnificent" alot when we were top half of the PL and going all guns in the UEFA cup, or a club hero like Mowbray for saying "it is what it is" every now and again.

It's almost as if most Boro fans care more about the managers press conferences than what happens on the pitch, and Warnock seems to appeal to the majority.
