Is this the same Coventry team that did a job on us?

They are having to try & play, which suits Lutons long ball down to the ground, ironically..

Sat back against us twice, scored first & we're able to continue to counter..

I think that's true. Also Luton probably defend better than we do.

Also Luton did finish 3rd so if they hang on, it's what they deserve over the season.

No

Carrick was completely unable to change from the slow passing slow build up tikka takka style which suited coventrys low block and hoof ball to Gorkyreres tactic

All luton are doing is old school direct football with big lads up top and coventry look clueless

I accept we have have a footballing identity and philosophy, but when something is painfully not working we need to ability to change our style from time to time

Michael Carrick was found wanting on the night, he didn’t have any answer to Coventry’s change of shape.

Luton have gone at them, got in behind them and gone up against them physically. All the things we didn’t do.
We never got behind them once that I can remember. Just couldn’t break on them and no answers.

A tough campaign coming up but hope Carrick, Woodgate and Co will have learnt a lot from this season and we will be stronger for it next season. UTB.

Sometimes it is about match ups.

We do not have an equivalent to adebayo or Morris. Our strikers are football players that want it into feet. Luton bypass the midfield.

We both had chances over the two legs and they took one.

I did feel we should have brought Crooks on earlier and gone a bit more direct.

I can remember us playing it about outside their box for ages late on in the game and then McGree tried to play Archer in behind but they read it.

I know it's the way we play and Carrick wants the team to believe in the philosophy but when it's a playoff semi-final and you're 20 minutes away from going out, I think maybe it's worth trying something different.

They have been woeful so far..no game plan and looking devoid of being able to make a pass !! so far it makes our exit hurt more 😔
Not watching it but it's the nature of the championship that teams are inconsistent. Also big occasion nerves etc. Their remit against us was pretty simple also. Try to stop us playing and nick one. Completely different test vs Luton

This.

Unfortunately for us our style suited Coventry. They can't rely on the same tactics v Luton, it just invites balls into the box.

Also bit different going from the underdog to a more even match up in terms of expectations.

They need to be able to do more than just sit deep and rely on the quality of individuals on the break.

As others have said, if Luton go up no complaints. They finished third, they deserve it.

Makes me think Carrick should have stuck Crookes up front earlier to shake them up a bit.

We had Matt Crooks on the bench, who Carrick waited until the 88th minute to bring on.
