Is Lewis Wing one of the few not to improve under Warnock?

The difference in quite a number of our players compared to last season is little short of amazing. One notable exception? Lewis Wing. I must admit, that whilst we haven’t seen much of him he certainly appears to have made no progress whatsoever. I am sure I am not alone at finding this disappointing.

Really did think we had a goal scoring midfielder on our hands. Sadly, his game appears to be very limited- and, more worryingly, progression of it looks to have stagnated.

It is a great shame for both us and the lad. Presently, I can’t see anything other than a major injury crisis, of him getting a sniff of action. A sorry situation for a player most thought would have seen a better season from him.

I can see him being allowed to leave in January.

It's a long old season, plenty time for Lewis to play a big part. Couple of weeks ago didn't look like Coulson would get a look in.

Did exactly what was expected of him by Warnock against Brentford. As long as he does that he'll be reserve for Saville. Long season to go yet.

In fairness to him, he's not had much of a chance yet.

But Howson, Morsy and Saville have largely been spot on this season, so that's no surprise.

I think wing seems to have gone backwards, or maybe early last season he had a clutch of good goals that masked his other failings.

In any event I was initially quite excited by him whereas now I can't see his career progressing any further.

Yes.
Hes stagnated.
Sometimes doesnt look up and takes speculative shots - needs to improve as a "team" player - Neil will probably be working on him, now that he has established a good relationship with the defence.
I suggest the situation with Coulson and Roberts may be similar.
I dont go with this "hes from non league" reasoning - its of benefit because hes played against men, unlike our U23s.
We have to back him: after all he is OUR player!!!

Don't know. Warnock went backwards last season. We'll have to wait and see if it was permanent.
Wing did well at Rotherham.. maybe Warnock wanted him to get game time that he just couldn’t offer him at boro. The fact that he’s been involved in the pre season friendliest suggests that the jury may still be out..

I'd have Wing in the team for goals alone. Goals win matches and we have very few who can contribute, including our forwards. I know he can go missing in some games but no more so than Saville, Morsy etc. If you had him alongside a steady eddy like Howsen then it gives him licence to blow hot and cold. He has scored regularly whenever he has been in the team. And did so at Rotherham.

Wing got 2 in 20 for Rotherham and 2 in 12 for us based on that hopefully wel see uchie double his record on last yr playing for us

Do you want to correct that? He started 4 times for us last season and 9 sub appearances usually less than 10 minutes.

I was just using a basic search rather than doing a major look into minutes played I never got the info endorsed by a solicitor 😉

No idea what you mean 🤪
I was more highlighting the fact he hasn’t scored regular for Rotherham country to what previous poster suggested .
We do know he’s capable of getting 6 plus if played often enough in our side atleast .

Wing never improved, Spence and Coulson never played as well as before he came. Britt went backwards and then out of the door. Always going to winners and loser with differing styles of management.
