Is it 1978 again

FIFA rankings didn’t exist back then Though all this is relatively new concep
FIFA rankings as we know them now didn't exist but I'm pretty sure there were other methods used back then. Or maybe it was the Daily Mirror's unofficial ranking or something. Was Newy putting lists together back then? Might have been that.
In any case, they were apparently joint 4th favourites with the bookies.

I doubt it as nothing was really in place to compare like we have now european nations just did not really play South American nations vice versa outside of competition.

And also, Greece DID win it. England never have. You’re taking the p*ss out of the Scots for being ‘arrogant’. The double standards are amazing.
Viv, I normally agree with you but Scotland have never won a knock out game in their history. England always underperform, but usually have quality. Scotland were humbled by England last month.

And Greece won it, Scotland didn't!!

Otto Rehagel won it with his ultra drilled ultra direct tactics.

Could you point me in the direction of anyone involved with the Scotland team who has said they're going to win it? Or even a fan who isn't obviously just saying it tongue in cheek?

I'll take that as a no then.
Basically this idea that Scotland are so deluded and believe they're going to win it is just something the OP has completely made up.
I wonder why fans of other nations don't like England fans?

We are not going there just to make up the numbers and we can beat anyone

I was paraphrasing but that was seemingly the intent from some.

How about Get out of the first round that would be a start

It reminds me of a mate I had at work who was Spanish. Kept on going on about how England always thought we would win the tournament. Did a quick straw poll in the office and not a single England supporter thought we would win it. The only person who did think his team would win was the Spanish lad. To be fair to him they did win it, but that's neither here nor there. :D

Jedi, you support Boro mate. You shouldn’t be sneering at anyone who supports a non-traditional ‘big’ football team for getting excited about big games and tournaments.
Add them to Sunderland, Newcastle, Liverpool, Bournemouth, Sheff Utd and Luton, teams that he gets himself irrationally wound up about.
