If England hadn't qualified for a tournament for two decades you don't think we would make a big deal of it?It's great for them that they qualified but making such a big deal that they made the last two tournaments in a row and what a great job Clarke has done - forgets it's a lot easier to qualify than it was for previous Scottish managers.
We're on the march wi' Allie's army
We're goin' to the Palatine
And we'll really shake them up
When we win the Euro Cup
'Cos Scotland are the greatest fitba' team
That’s just it these aren’t fans these are ex pros.Scotland have been abysmal for decades. I don't begrudge them a time to thump their chests and enjoy themselves. As always there will be a small element who genuinely think that they are now somehow a superpower in world football that Brazil would be scared of, but I am sure most fans are not that far removed from the reality.
That squad had some superb players.Oh yes, Ally McLeod....had arguably the most talented group of footballers Scotland had ever produced, took them to South America, and spectacularly blew it
“I don’t dislike the English, I hate their guts!”
"I honestly think that if Scotland, provided that we play a reasonable form at all, we will qualify and I think a medal of some sort will come and I pray and hope that it is the gold one."
“I say things that grab headlines but I don’t honestly think deep down I’m a boastful person. When I say I’ll win the World Cup, it’s not boastful. Deep down inside me ... I believe it.”
Trevor Mcdonald: "what would you look to do after the World Cup"
Ally McLeod: “Retain It “.
And they lapped it up.
FIFA rankings didn’t exist back then Though all this is relatively new concepranked 3rd in the world at the time.
It’s just the way they always bemoan our so called arrogance then come out with this.Jedi, you support Boro mate. You shouldn’t be sneering at anyone who supports a non-traditional ‘big’ football team for getting excited about big games and tournaments.
"I would also like to thank my backroom team for their support and, of course, the fans who have packed Hampden Park to capacity and made it a place to be feared once again.”
And
“"Clarke's developed a style and we're particularly strong across the middle of the park with some really good midfield players that are really showing that they can compete against the very best.”
Feared ??? And they say were arrogant
