Is a window cleaner an essential job?

Absolutely not. Wonder if they are an above board registered business, as if not they may be trying to get some more cash in if they're not going to benefit from the government assistance.

Although arguably;

"
Work carried out in people’s homes, for example by tradespeople carrying out repairs and maintenance, can continue, provided that the tradesperson is well and has no symptoms. Again, it will be important to ensure that Public Health England guidelines, including maintaining a 2 metre distance from any household occupants, are followed to ensure everyone’s safety."

They have their own van with name and advertising plastered down the side of it. He also has the new hose pipe & brush system and charges a fortune compared to the lads coming round with their shammy and bucket - who I would say aren't above board.

I saw one the first day of the ban and asked the same question on here. I’m not sure the guy above saying it’s ok is correct. It is really not a necessary task and therefore should be banned.

However another angle . He’s probably been down the same houses for years and is a welcome visitor for somebody living alone . Likely has a good natter and all he needs to do is take a step back and keep a tab so no exchanging cash .
I went mad with my mam when she let the ringtons man in . I shall be having a little chat with him when it’s over.
Ps won’t be too harsh as I love his ginger nuts ( that’s the biscuits btw 🤭 )

Edit bloody auto spell 🤭

I think they could be a bit of that in it. Trying to get my dad to sit still is unbelievable hard work.

People still not understanding what the guidance is. There has been nothing that insists that people with non-essential jobs don't go to work. The guidance is not to travel to work if it is unnecessary, i.e. can you do your job remotely. Window cleaning obviously can't be done remotely and so is still permissible but social distancing rules should be applied.

If I was the traffic warden I would have laid the guy out. Also not really in any position to preach considering he is driving while filming on his mobile phone in a hospital area.

Nah I think the guy has a point - it’s absolutely disgusting and trying to blame his employers just shows what little backbone he has.

Reading upon this the employers have put a freeze on issuing tickets in that area. As he is enforcement I do not believe he is a key worker so shouldn’t be out full stop.

It doesnt matter if he is a key worker, his employers have made that decision, not him. If your employer is telling you to go to work, you cant just decide you aren't a key worker and not go.

Any ire should be directed at his employer and not verbally abusing and threatening a man, especially whilst breaking laws and risking safety of himself and others to do so, and being a **** about it.
